Monday...

Today, November 16, is my birthday.  I am officially 22 years old.

I had hoped to have something profound to say in this post, some words of wisdom, some questions to ponder, but I have nothing for you.  I started a list of 22 things that I am thankful for, but I didn't have time to finish it.

I will be spending my day working on final projects and practicing for a grad school audition tape I am recording on Wednesday.  As you can tell by the fact that I'm posting this at 4am, this is going to be a long week and I don't really have time for legitimate celebration.  It would be nice to be able to take some time for myself to knit or watch a movie, but I don't know if I can squeeze that in right now.

Anyway, in place of any intelligent things to say, I would instead simply like to say thank you to all of you readers.  Thank you for your ongoing friendship and kind words.

As no birthday would be complete without a gift, I thought it would be fun to have a blog giveaway!

I picked up this beautiful skein of Malabrigo Sock yarn in the Persia colorway for one of you:

Believe me, I would get all of you yarn if I could afford it, but sadly I can't.  I've never actually knit with malabrigo sock before, but I hear it's wonderful stuff.

As seems to be common procedure, I will draw a name from all of the comments on this post and one lucky person will receive this beautiful yarn!  I will make the deadline a week from today - November 23.

Thanks again guys for being so wonderful!

  2. Happy birthday!

I hope you're at least able to squeeze in some time to have some cake. I suppose a balloon is too much to ask right now. :-)

  6. Grattis på födelsedagen! ("Happy birthday" in Swedish, but I'm sure you already figured that out.)

What a good idea to make a birthday list of things to be grateful for. (And more manageable than a list of 2010 things for the new year!) Hope you publish the list eventually.

The yarn looks gorgeous, but since I have quite a lot of yarn already (and don't really like knitting socks, to be honest) I don't have to be part of the lottery.

Or, if I win you may keep the yarn as a birthday present. How about that? Don't cheat - or do cheat!

  7. Happy Birthday! You share a birthday with my favorite cousin, which goes to show that the cool people are born on Nov 16.

  9. Happy Birthday, young man, may you have many more to come!

Do something fantastic today, even if it's something secretly illicit.

ESPECIALLY if it's something secretly illicit. I suggest thinking naughty thoughts about a bandmate.

  21. Stupid Lawrence (and grad. school) getting in the way of your birthday! Don't they know what a bummer that is? Just think of all the fantastic/terrible (depending on your view of the new schedule) free time you're about to have. Lots of knitting time! Have a good birthday!

  26. You're supposed to get gifts on your birthday, not give gifts, silly boy...

That being said, the yarn is gorgeous!! I like Asplund's idea; enter me in the drawing and keep the yarn if I win. As it is, I have a skein of Malabrigo sock waiting for me in my stash already.

I'm sorry to hear that you have a solidly busy week ahead of you. Hopefully things go well and, if worse comes to worse, you can go all out with the celebration next week instead.

    Happy b-day ^_^

  31. Happy Birthday and Congratulations!!! Here's some wisdom... I always used to joke that we get our brains when we're 22, but recent scientific evidence has shown that the portion of our brains responsible for judgement isn't fully developed until people are about 22. So, congrats on full brain development! (it's also why, I am sure, that the military prefers its front line soldiers to be 18, they tend not to question so much...)

    Awesome giveaway!

  35. There's nothing like a give away to encourage lurkers to actually comment. Hmmmm I think that I'll do the same. Don't worry about proper celebrations....this is coming from someone who has worked on her last two birthdays. I even had to get up at 4:15 am for the last one.
